HH Vaca Recap: Firsts & Favorites

Wow, what a week! We just had the best time in Hilton Head and couldn’t be more thankful for all the family time we had together. It was truly a vacation of ‘firsts & favorites’ for all of us. It wasn’t our first time in Hilton Head {we used to go almost every year!} but the big ‘first’ was that this was our very first full week vacation away as a family of 3. And just as important, a first vacation with my Mom and Dad being Grandma & Grandpa!

Enjoy the picture overload and a recap of our family vacation firsts and favorites from our week in Hilton Head!

Midnight stop to get gas during our roadtrip to HH. Karter may have been sound asleep but we had to wake him up to see the cute kitten who came over to say hi in the parking lot! {We were obviously delirious at this point…}

Play date with friends!

Visiting our friends and seeing their sweet boy & new house was the perfect stop on our way to HH!

Thank you Disney’s Hilton Head Resort for such an amazing stay!

We made it! First week-long vacation as a family of 3. “Hi Mickey!”

A huge thank you to Disney’s Hilton Head Resort for making us feel “home” for the week. The people who work at this resort are AH-MAZING and go above & beyond. It was truly incredible and we appreciate each person at the resort who made our experience absolutely perfect. {Especially the lifeguard that gave Karter a baby beachball and the waiter who snuck a half dozen choco chip cookies in my to-go bag! Now THAT my friends, is a YAY moment!}VACA3And how about the first full day in Hilton Head being Mother’s Day! What a way to celebrate kicking off vacation with my favorite people. The photo gift & handmade card my two boys put together for me… it brought me to tears. How lucky am I? My boys spoil me and melt my heart…

Throughout the week, there were tons of fun ‘firsts’ for Karter {our 1 year old!}:

Enjoying his first pool & raft experience!

Pure joy & awesome pics by my hubby & parents! Thank you for capturing these amazing moments!

First time at a splash pad! This was his absolute FAVORITE. Pure joy every single time. And trust me, we made sure to go back multiple times!

First time on the beach and in the ocean! It’s a big world out there and this kid was absolutely fearless running through the water and sand. {I consider myself a runner after this vacation…Beachin’ with a new walker is no easy task!} We had the most amazing weather to experience all of this together. The picture above…NO FILTER. Absolute Heaven.

First time experiencing a lot of different foods including fish, crab cakes, black beans (new obsession), and a lemon! {We had to do it. Are you dying at the lemon pic, too?! It was a moment I will never forget and can’t stop laughing over. #parentsoftheyear}

Hilton Head trails are the BEST for biking!

First time biking! If only they made an adult version of Karter’s “bike”…

It was pretty amazing to see how fearless and adventuresome our little man was experiencing so many new things! And although it makes me a nervous wreck watching him try some of the new things that he does, I can only hope he keeps that adventurous spirit for life.

Some of my other favorite moments from the week:

Skullcreek Boathouse for dinner {SO yummy!}, live music, and giant lawn games. Biking around the island. Visiting Lawton Stables {beautiful & a free petting zoo!}. Lazy pool days {and not so lazy ones chasing a 1 year old around!}. Eating ice cream & playing at the park at Harbor Town. And did I mention Karter eating a lemon? {This moment deserves to be mentioned 2x in one post…I just LOL again.}

Truly, just getting to spend time with my family was so needed. We all work and lead busy lives so getting to step away to be together for a week was the best. It’s so important to disconnect once in awhile and Hilton Head {especially Disney’s Resort} made for the perfect week away.

We try to do one big vacation per year so any suggestions on your favorite family vacation spots I’d love to hear! Feel free to connect with me if you are planning a trip to Hilton Head and need other recommendations, too!

And now as the weekend comes to a close, it’s back to reality…Have a great week and thanks for stopping by Spread the Yay!
