Feel-Good Friday {4/29}

Well, it’s finally here. Not to wish time away but when I tell you I am pretty happy that April is just about over, that’s actually an understatement. I started Spread the Yay knowing that I was only going into my busiest season at work. {I know, I’ve been lacking on posts lately and promise to be better in the months ahead! We have so many fun things we want to share!} With the help of my sister, I have absolutely loved creating and running this blog. And we have so many exciting goals and plans in place for the blog, for ourselves, and for our readers! But, it’s also been interesting trying to balance this new adventure {and another exciting adventure to launch soon!} with all of the other important things in life – family time, friendships, full-time jobs, parenting, etc. We write at night or on the weekends and some weeks just recently, I’ve found myself having total writer’s block night after night. I’ve found myself getting frustrated that I haven’t had time {or in reality, made time} to post more, explore more, and do more of the things I love to do. But after feeling some emotions of frustration and anxiety for a few weeks {on and off but more often than usual}, I’ve had to make the conscious effort to change my mindset and prioritize life a little better.

Life… it gets a little crazy sometimes. {Understatement of the year, right?} But in true Olivia Pope fashion, sometimes you just have to “handle it.”

The past couple of months I made some pretty HUGE {ginormous might be a better word} goals for myself. And you know what, I may not be exactly where I wanted to be at this point, but I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished. I think that’s the important thing that we have to step back and realize once in awhile. First, we can’t be afraid to jump in and start chasing those goals and dreams of ours. And second, falling short of a major goal doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It means that you are on the path to getting there. And, most importantly, it’s the test of will you stay on that path and complete your ultimate goal? The end result might take more time than you originally wanted, but how can you be upset with yourself if you are constantly pushing to better yourself and move forward toward that ultimate goal?

Baby steps. We hear it time and again but in all reality, it’s those baby steps after baby steps that lead to a huge leap forward in life. One example for me, is my goal of losing 30 pounds. {That is still my goal by the way! If you didn’t see the original post, click HERE} For the last 3 weeks, I’ve been wanting so badly to write the big “celebrating 20 pounds lost” post! I started typing out the post so many different times and then would stop. I haven’t truly lost the full 20 yet. I’m down 18 pounds and have been for weeks. Am I upset? A little. But why? The ONLY reason why I’m “stuck” at 18 pounds is because of the choices I’ve made. I have chosen to not make time to workout as much. I have chosen to grab a treat here or there throughout the week more often than before. I can’t reiterate enough how much of life’s ups and downs are directly impacted by the choices we make. And then of course, on top of the things we choose to do or not to do, are the things in life that we have no control over. When you are making poor choices and things outside of your control stack on top of each other, that’s when the real stress happens.

So today, it’s feel-good Friday! It’s time to start fresh. Life is about starting fresh and sometimes you have to restart more often than you’d like. Let’s be a positive light in someone else’s life. Let’s do something nice for ourselves for “handling it.” And let’s consciously make the time to do something, even the smallest thing, that has a positive impact on our goals and our lives.

Like my Momma says…”Put your big girl panties on and HANDLE IT.”

Happy feel-good Friday, everyone!
