Espresso Yourself

New year, new blog, new…coffee?

Why not! I’m here to spread the good word about my favorite recent purchase:

This cute little stove-top espresso maker {sometimes called a “moka pot”} has reinvigorated my coffee life! As a person who has no barista skills but enjoys the occasional latte, this purchase was a game-changer.

Bonus points: it is SUPER easy to use and clean!

Here’s how it works:

1. Fill the bottom chamber with water, and fill the inner basket with espresso grind coffee

2. Screw on the top and put it on the stove over medium heat

3. After 5 minutes or so, you’ll hear it bubbling—that means it’s done! With the model shown here, you’ll get 2-3 shots of espresso per batch (depending on how strong you like it)

You hardcore coffee folks out there can go ahead and drink this stuff straight up. I like to mix it with foamed milk (think latte or cappuccino-style), and jazz it up with cinnamon, maple syrup, or a little sugar.

Just like that, you’ve put Starbucks to shame! (Just kidding Starbucks…we really do love you.)

Does anyone else use a stove-top espresso maker at home?

Share your love for this magic machine in the comments section below.

Yay for caffeine! Enjoy.

I have never seen one of these but this looks like such a great idea. If you were doing some sort of gift basket for house warming or a bridal shower for a coffee lover, these items together would be perfection!

Yes! Great idea!! It’s the perfect size for gifting, you could do a whole coffee themed basket.

Love this! I may have to use for future bridal showers coming up!
