Overnight Oats II

Anyone else a fan of a quick & easy breakfast that actually keeps you full for hours?! {Of course!} My sister put together an awesome “cinnanut” overnight oats recipe awhile back {HERE!} that has been a favorite! I decided to try a few other overnight oats recipes and wanted to share a super easy one that I found. Just like the Cinnanut Overnight Oats recipe, you throw together simple ingredients and wake up to a healthy, filling breakfast. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

1/3 cup Milk

1/4 cup Rolled Oats

1/4 cup Greek Yogurt (I used vanilla flavored!)

2 tsp Chia Seeds

2 tsp Honey

1 tsp Cinnamon (I used double this because I love cinnamon!)

1/4-1/2 cup – fruit of your choice (I have now tried it with blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and peaches – all in different combinations and all are amazing with this recipe!)

Directions:

  1.  Mix milk, rolled oats, Greek yogurt, chia seeds, honey, and cinnamon in a jar or dish with a lid.
  2. Mix or shake well until all ingredients are combined.
  3. You can either put your fruit it now (original recipe calls to do this) or wait to add fruit until you eat it like I did
  4. Refrigerate oatmeal for about 8 hours or overnight
  5. Wake up to a ready-to-eat breakfast and enjoy every bite!

HERE is the recipe I used from the original source (Thanks allrecipes.com!) and HERE it is on Pinterest for you! {Follow Spread the Yay on Pinterest for daily meal inspo!}

Life Lately!

Where did August go?! I can’t believe how long it’s been since I’ve posted. Happy September, friends!

lifelately

Life lately… I’ll tell you what, BUSY is an understatement! Being busy isn’t an excuse for not posting it’s just a fact and to be honest, I have so many notes jotted down throughout all the crazy, busy, awesome moments that have happened and am newly inspired to share so many fun post ideas with all of you! Over the past few weeks, I chose to focus on some other things a little more and you know what, it felt good to disconnect for awhile! {Just wait, a full post is coming on exactly that – disconnecting!}

But now, I’m excited to be back on the blog and bring some new posts your way! To kick-off September {well, the middle of September – ha!}, I thought I’d share a little {tiny!} snapshot of what I’ve been up to and some fun new finds I’ve been wanting to share with you!

{one} I’ve been listening to a ton of podcast episodes lately! It’s hard to choose my favorite but Lewis Howes’ “School of Greatness” podcast has been amazing. {He’s an Ohio guy, too!} I listen to Lewis’ podcast on the way to and from work almost daily. From Larry King to Steve Weatherford to Stacy London, there are so many awesome episodes that are fun, entertaining, and so inspiring no matter what your passion or goal in life is. Check it out today!

Keep up the amazing work, Lewis!

{two} I’ve been focusing on being present. Did you read my post awhile back about being where you are when you’re there? If not, just click HERE. Well, I took my own advice a little more seriously. The calls, texts, emails, Insta updates, blog posts, etc… those can all just wait sometimes. It’s amazing how fast the weeks fly by and being a little more present and focused on the “now” has really helped my hubby, son, and me feel so connected even during the busiest of days. Sometimes, it’s okay to just live and enjoy the moment. Always worrying about what you “should” be doing can really catch up and make everything life hands you an extra stress. Worry a little less and play a little more. And remember, whatever you are doing, try to be present in that moment! It’s amazing how much better you’ll feel.

{three} I’ve been obsessing over the new fall styles that are out. So many favorites, so many posts to come! But if you are interested in browsing through some of my favorite {affordable!} finds, you can scroll through and shop the photos below.

Thanks for stopping by, friends!

Cheers! Fun + Simple – DIY Cork Memory Jar

cheers wine cork memory jar

Often times, the biggest and smallest life celebrations have a little “cheers!” involved. If you’ve been following Spread the Yay for awhile now, you know me. You know I am on a journey to live a healthier lifestyle while also trying to enjoy the balance. You know that I try to look for the positive in everything but am also a total open book when it comes to the good, bad, ugly, and beautiful parts of life. And you also must know that I just can’t help it – I love my coffee and I love my wine! {I don’t have even amounts of both each day, I promise! Ok, maybe on Saturdays…}

Anyways! Are you a wine-lover like I am? {Add a glass of champs in there every once in awhile, too!} Have you ever thought about all the fun things you can do with your corks after? Coasters, place card holders, trivets, etc. So many cute ideas but oh wait…so little time!

Cheers to a simple idea that takes minutes to do and is such a fun way to keep track of some of life’s YAY moments!

DIY Cork Memory Jar

So here’s the deal, whenever you open a bottle of wine {or anything with a cork for that matter!} for whatever YAY moment you are celebrating, write the date and event on the cork and add it to your memory jar. {I picked up a cheap and fun-shaped vase at my local Target awhile back to keep all of mine in! HERE is a similar one.} It can be as simple as a dinner out with great friends or a night in with your hubby!

Some examples & my favorites as I look through our memory jar…

Honeymoon {champs cork!}

Girls night in/New house celebration!

Just Us – Date Night In!

Surprise Wedding Shower in Annapolis!

Hubby Made Dinner! {Hey, big and little YAY moments count! ha!}

Cheers, friends! Wishing you a great weekend!
