This Road Called LIFE

On this road called LIFE, sometimes you hit the smooth part and sometimes you hit the bumpy part. Sometimes the winding back & forth seems to never end and sometimes it’s a straight shot to where you have to go. Every once in awhile, something jumps out and completely surprises you or blocks your way. It causes you to veer off course but it’s up to you to keep control and continue on.

As you drive on the road of LIFE, pay attention to the details. Read and listen to the signs. And most importantly, stay focused on where you’re going not where you’ve been or what’s long behind you.

There’s always an alternate path. There’s always a way to get to where you want to go. No matter how many road blocks are in your way, just keep moving forward or turnaround and try another way.

This road called LIFE is an AMAZING journey and you are strong enough to handle whatever path you take. Trust yourself to navigate and choose the path that’s best for you.

And remember that sometimes you deserve to just turn the tunes up, roll the windows down, put the cruise control on and lose yourself in the beauty of the journey.

No matter where you’re going…ENJOY THE RIDE.

Sweet & Sassy Rosemary Pecans

Looking for the perfect fall treat? You’ve found it! This recipe (and photos!) was sent over by my sister and if you haven’t checked out some of her other recipes she’s shared on Spread the Yay, you can find them at the end of this post! {Delicious & simple! You will love them, including this one!}

Although we both love all things pumpkin, sometimes you need a break to explore the other delicious flavors of fall. These pecans are a little sweet, a little spicy, and totally tough to put down! They also make a great gift so keep this recipe on hand for holiday baking season!

12 oz pecan halves (about 3 cups)
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon (tsp) ground cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp Kosher salt
1/2 tsp group coriander
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp allspice
1 tsp chopped fresh rosemary
1 egg white
2 tsp vegetable oil
1. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.
2. Mix all of the sugar and spices in a large bowl
3. In a small separate bowl, whisk the egg white and oil
4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients in the large bowl, and then gently stir in the pecans until they are evenly covered.
5. Cover a cookie sheet with tin foil (or parchment paper) and coat with cooking spray. Spread the pecans evenly on the tray. {The foil will make your life a whole lot easier come clean up time…trust me!}
6. Bake for about 20 minutes, stirring once halfway through. {Keep your eye on the pecans after 15 minutes, as some ovens may cook a little quicker.}
7. Let them cool for a few minutes to harden, and then enjoy!

Tip from Katy: These would make a great topping for a bowl of Halo Top vanilla bean ice cream…my favorite!

All Day Makeup

Ladies, if you’re like me, I know the last thing you want to worry about during those busy days is touching up your makeup…Am I right?!  Let’s talk about two products that are sure to save you time and keep your face looking fresh no matter what the week has in store for you!

It’s as simple as 3, 2, 1: Take an extra 3 minutes in the morning, use these 2 products, and celebrate 1 less thing to worry about during the day. Yay!

I know I’ve posted about this “power powder” by Laura Mercier before but it’s truly the best. It sets your makeup without looking caked on and will give you a beautifully soft look. The suggested use is to use THIS velour powder puff to apply. I found that I like applying it with a large powder brush which provides light coverage to my face and neck. You can use this powder after you’ve completed all makeup or something I choose to do is use it on top of my foundation and then add my blush over top. However you use it, it lasts for months and will definitely become a staple in your makeup collection. Buy it HERE for free shipping!

I’ve tried a few different setting sprays and have liked a number of them! THIS one is what I’m currently using. It’s super inexpensive and can be picked up at your local Target or anywhere E.L.F. products are sold. {If you’re a shop-from-home type of person, buy it HERE and have it shipped to your doorstep.} Use this product once you are completely finished with your makeup and after you’ve applied the setting powder above.  Hold the bottle at least 12 inches away from your face and spray a few times allover your face and neck. As the title says, it really should be used as a mist so you don’t need much to set your makeup for hours. BONUS: The aloe, green tea, and vitamins give a cool, refreshing finish to kick-start your day!
